SAP S/4 HANA 1709 is just on its way of release with greater delta innovative and functional capabilities.

Key Features of the release:

  • SAP S/4 HANA 1709 will only be compatible to HANA 2.0 and the customers using lower versions will have to upgrade to HANA 2.0
  • Transportation Management is now embedded in S/4 HANA 1709 which was moved out in 1610.
  • Commodity Management is also now a part of SAP S/4 HANA Core which is really a great move.
  • Commercial Project Management has also being included as a part of S/4 HANA Core.
  • SAP S/4 HANA 1709 will also include CRM as its standard functionality.
  • Maximise FIORI experience with FIORI 2.0


Various Transition Scenarios:



Scenario 1 - New Implementation(Greenfield): This is the case where the customer is migrating from his legacy system ( SAP or Non- SAP) that requires a initial data load. In  this case , migration would be done with standard tools and content.

Scenario 2 - System Conversion: In this scenario, the customer migrates from an existing SAP ERP to S/4 HANA. The migration strategy in this case would require a software update manager(SUM) with data migration option(DMO).

Scenario 3 - Landscape Transformation: This scenario exists where the customer demands a single global SAP S/4 HANA for all of their regional SAP systems.

Scenario 1 & 2 are different, they don’t need to be confused. Moreover, the key factor in determining whether to go with scenario 1 or 2 is the custom code data which can be reduced to some extent by custom code adaptation tool.
